workshops

Our workshops are an interactive and fun way to learn about your car, what maintenance you can do to prolong the life of your car (and save money), how to talk to a mechanic and what to do in an emergency.

We provide a safe space for you to: ask questions, let go of any shame of being an uneducated car owner, and become a more confident driver.

These workshops are interactive with no confusing, over-your-head car talk.

Practical and easy tips and lessons like, what is the purpose of coolant? What do the letters on the side of my tire mean? What can I touch under the hood of my car? What should I not touch?

  • Our first introductory session is designed to get you feeling comfortable and confident with what’s what under the hood of your car. Let us talk you through our car, or bring your own vehicle to start developing your understanding of your own engine bay (bae).

Objectives: Introduce core parts, function and terminology.

Activities: Walk around and familiarise yourself with your engine bay with support from our instructor.

Outcomes: Participants will understand the fundamentals of their own car.

  • This follow up session starts to apply our learnings and new found understanding of our engine bay to emergency and road side situations to equip you with the tools to diagnose issues when they arise. In this session we develop confidence and competence to handle unexpected situations.

Objectives: Explore emergency concepts and practical strategies.

Activities: Diagnostics, group work with case scenarios & research

Outcomes: Participants will gain practical experience and problem-solving skills.

  • Our third session builds on our learnings to upskill us to maintain our own vehicles between or in place of routine services with a mechanic. These skills can prolong the life of our vehicles, save us money, and provide us with valuable repair knowledge that many of us in the LGBTIQA+ community are deskilled in.

Objectives: Step by step guide on how to service vehicles.

    Activities: Worksheets and practical

Outcomes: Participants will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to properly maintain their vehicles.

our workshops are designed to:

  • To provide participants with a foundational understanding of automotive care and their own car

  • To develop practical skills, experience and problem-solving strategies for road side issues

  • To build confidence within the LGBTIQA+ community to care for their cars independently and access appropriate car support when needed

we deliver workshops for individuals to book into or your organisation & community group can book us to run sessions for your community.
